Traditional Liposuction vs SmartLipo

June 14, 2019

Some people are comfortable with their skin during the cold weather, but most people begin to have body image problems which seem to appear when the weather becomes warm. It might be a small amount of fat within your waist that is very stubborn no matter how many times you try to get rid of it, or your thighs which doesn’t let you wear those shorts you just bought. Whatever the case, people search for that simple solution which makes us look and feel better about ourselves. Until recently, the only way one could physically remove fat was via traditional liposuction. However, upgrades in laser technology over the last ten years have enhanced the procedure with SmartLipo. With this procedure, you can experience the advantages of a slimmer body with reduced risk within a shorter time. You can find out about the significant differences between liposuction and SmartLipo below.

While both non-laser liposuction and SmartLipo are efficient at getting rid of unwanted fat, they have some significant differences you should note:

#1: Pain and Downtime

The downtime for liposuction can vary from patient to patient. Depending on the amount of fat removed, you might have to remain in the hospital for some days or remain under bed rest at the very least. Patients experience swelling as well as bruising. One can also feel pain and discomfort for weeks, and patients are advised to wear a compression garment for six weeks or more to help with the pain and swelling. It should be noted that having such surgical procedures may need plenty of downtime to achieve optimal results, and so potential patients must find time within their hectic schedules not just for the procedure but for the full recovery period as well.

Many SmartLipo patients are stunned with how good they feel after the procedure. Many patients who have had liposuction procedures in the past and are pleased with how simple the operation is and how good they feel. They all say they wish they had gone for SmartLipo in the beginning. The patients walk by themselves, and many leave the hospital after their procedure to continue with their everyday life. They usually feel sore for some few days, and the soreness feels like an intense workout although it should not hold back your daily life. You can have this procedure done of a Friday and go back to work on Monday.

Many patients have confirmed going back to working out after about five days. There is nominal bruising after SmartLipo. There will be some swelling, however, but this will slowly dispel within a few weeks.

#2: Technique

Traditional liposuction utilizes a cannula together with physical manipulation to remove fat from below the skin. SmartLipo uses laser heat to dissolve the fat, making it simpler to get rid of with the cannula, usually leading to reduced bruising for the patient.

#3: Tightening of the Skin

The inclusion of laser heat with SmartLipo offers an extra benefit of skin tightening. Liposuction alone doesn't provide any skin tightening advantages; that is why there is an increased risk of dimpling after this procedure, specifically with older people who have already lost a lot of their elastic skin.

#4: Recovery

Liposuction needs a more extended period and the use of compression clothes for up to one and a half months. On the other hand, SmartLipo patients have a full recovery within a couple of days and usually only require wearing compression garments for a week.

Since SmartLipo can be done on almost any part of the body, there are a few cases in which doctors opt to perform traditional liposuction instead of SmartLipo on patients. Liposuction is entirely a cosmetic surgery, and it does not replace working out or diet in terms of health implications. In case you have health problems which are caused by a poor or unbalanced lifestyle, liposuction can at times hide this on the surface, but it will not solve any issues you have, especially if these issues aren’t entirely aesthetic.

Both these procedures should be seen as an aid but not a permanent solution or a substitute for healthy living. These procedures help you reach your body objectives quicker although it doesn’t replace the work you have to put in to maintain a slim figure. Generally, liposuction affects your weight for up to 6 months, and after this, you might gain all the weight unless you follow a healthy diet. Both these procedures are ideal cosmetic surgeries though there are some considerations for you to achieve the ideal slim figure.
